#1018- Clockmaker's Koa and Pistachio Five String Banjo

I love making banjos out of Koa. It has a sweetness to it that contrasts with my local woods that I really like. I think it is a series worth pursuing and I hope we get to make more soon. This is a full size five string, with a 12” Koa block rim, goat skin head and brass tone ring. The Koa is from Lizann’s grandfather, who bought it many years ago to make grandfather clocks, so I call it Clockmaker’s Koa. The pistachio is from California Orchards and offers a nice bit of color that is in the same palette as the Koa. As with all our instruments made from Koa, we’ll be donating a portion of the sale to Saving Hawaii’s Forests. Cheers Ryan!
