Here is the next entry in my Kingdom Era series, where I build instruments inspired by the ukuleles made in Hawaii in the 1880’s. This one is the tenor size, made of curly Koa for the top, back and sides, with straight grain Koa for the rest. All of this Koa I got from a retiring builder. The neck is some local hemlock, with a carbon fiber rod inside for stability and stiffness. It has a radiused fretboard, fluorocarbon strings, wooden strap buttons and a bone nut and saddle.
