Most of the Koa I can get is only big enough to make Ukuleles, but I do have some longer boards from the Carpenter Ant stash that were originally cut to make grandfather clocks. I like Koa as a banjo wood, with long sustain, loud but sweet sound and a bit of cheerfulness. The secondary wood is Pistachio from California Orchards, with a rich glow that shares a color palette with the Koa. This banjo has a 12” rim with a K&K pickup and synthetic head. Thanks Jemmy!
